Corrections Policy
Historical writing improves when errors are corrected clearly rather than quietly ignored.
When a correction is needed
We correct factual errors involving dates, names, quotations, chronology, statistics, documents, places or other material claims. We also revise wording when new evidence shows that an interpretation was presented too confidently.
How corrections are handled
Minor spelling or formatting fixes may be made without a formal note. Material factual corrections should be reflected in the article and, when appropriate, acknowledged in a correction note or update record.
